Step 3: Google will then email you a verification code to the phone number you provided when you joined up. Because a phone number is normally required during account setup, you can select either a text or a call.
Step 4: You will receive a message with the verification code on your phone. On the Google account recovery screen, enter the code in the field and click Next. You should be able to reset your password and access your email account.
Step 5: After entering the code, you should be able to access your Gmail account again. If you don't have a phone number associated with your Gmail account, select Try another way to sign in and follow the steps on the page.
