Big Ten Meet n' Greet: Getting to know Nebraska with Cornhuskers Wire

When it comes to blue bloods in the world of college football, the Nebraska Cornhuskers have a seat at the table. They may not have the success over the past two decades that makes them come to the top of mind when thinking about national powers, but with five national championships from 1970 to 1997, there are few teams as engrained in the history of the sport as the Cornhuskers.”

With the news that both the Oregon Ducks and Washington Huskies are going to be leaving the Pac-12 Conference a year from now and joining the Big Ten Conference, we decided that it is time for Oregon fans to learn a bit more about their future home.

Not only do Duck fans need to know a bit more about the history of the Big Ten, but they also need to learn about the teams that occupy the conference.

Shoji Tabuchi, National Fiddler Hall of Famer, dies at 79

The city of Branson issued an official statement at 11 a.m. Saturday, offering condolences and describing Tabuchi as "one of Branson’s all-time, greatest gems. A trailblazer. A good man. A world-class performer. The much-loved Shoji Tabuchi. Thank you Tabuchi Family for your decades with us."

The city also reshared the mayoral proclamation that made Aug. 31, 2021 the "Shoji, Dorothy and Christina Tabuchi Day" in honor of their contributions to the Branson community. It noted the family's support of music education in public schools and the role they played in the "establishment of both the Christmas and

World-renowned fiddler and longtime Branson, Missouri entertainer Shoji Tabuchi has died at age 79. Friends, fans and fellow musicians have been sharing their condolences and favorite memories on social media.

Tabuchi, who has been hailed as the King of Branson, has been a popular draw in the live music and family vacation spot for more than 30 years.

His first performance in Branson was in the early 1980s but by the end of that decade, he opened The Shoji Tabuchi Theatre. Over the years, as his popularity grew, the size of the theater expanded and relocated.

He performed at his eponymous theater, which was later damaged in a fire, often appearing on stage with his wife Dorothy and daughter Christina.

Trump weaves through legal questions and crowds at Iowa fair as new charges in Georgia loom

It also placed front and center roaring crowds in the first caucus state, many of whom remain loyal to Trump as he faces multiple ongoing criminal cases.

At almost every turn while he moved through the fairgrounds, Trump was asked about the 2020 presidential election and his legal battles. He faces a newly imposed order by a federal judge to not threaten witnesses in connection with the ongoing case and is expected to soon be indicted in a new case in Georgia also relating to the 2020 election.

As Donald Trump slowly moved through the crowd Saturday at the Iowa State Fair's Animal Learning Center building, he turned briefly to reporters, where he was asked if he intended "to overturn the 2020 election."

"You know the answer," Trump replied.

He looked into the camera before turning away back to the crowd, where supporters donning red hats cheered and waited for him to approach.

The former president and 2024 Republican frontrunner's visit to the Iowa State Fair aimed to trample upon any attention and momentum that several of his rivals, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, sought at the fair Saturday.

Maddie Gardner was four when she first entered a cheering competition. She was too young to be on her sister Cassie’s team, which her mom coached, so she went to a small regional event in her home state of North Carolina to compete individually.

Maddie seemed to win over the judges with her lazy “r,” which came out when she pronounced one of her team colors: Puuuple.

It was an endearing instance that might have gone viral had this not been the late 1990s. Those moments would come later. Maddie was in middle school when her coach told her team about a site called YouTube, where they could access their routines, as well as those of their competitors.

But there was more: A comment section where anyone could say whatever they wanted about what he or she was watching.

“That just sort of evolved throughout my time as an athlete in the sport to Twitter, to Facebook where, yes it opened the door for us to become better but we were also exposed to some of the negative sides of social media,” says Gardner, now 30 and a television personality.
