A Good Day to Be a Dog: Cha Eun-woo's Key to Breaking the Curse

A Good Day to Be a Dog is the latest romantic comedy drama starring Cha Eun-woo. The drama adaptation of the similarly titled manhwa also stars Park Gyu-young and Lee Hyun-woo.

In the drama, Cha Eun-woo plays Jin Seo-won, a math teacher who is afraid of dogs due to past trauma. He then has a relationship with Han Hae-na (Park Gyu-young), a cursed teacher who can turn into a dog.

A Good Day to Be a Dog tells the story of Han Hae-na (Park Gyu-young), a single woman who works as a teacher. From the outside, she seems to have a life like any other woman.

However, she actually holds such a big secret. Hae-na bears a curse that has been passed down for generations due to an ancestral mistake.

The curse is passed down to her and her older sister can turn into a dog from midnight to sunrise. The curse activates when Hae-na kisses another person.

This makes Hae-na always reluctant to kiss when dating. This condition made her often abandoned or left lovers until she finally decided to be single.

Hae-na can actually get rid of it all as long as the person who kissed her in human form, wants to kiss her again when she is in dog form.

However, Hae-na has never been that confident to show her true condition to others, like her parents or older sister did.

In fact, Hae-na likes Lee Bo-gyeom (Lee Hyun-woo), a teacher at school because he is so kind and caring to her. Bo-gyeom who looks so cheerful is good friends with Jin Seo-won (Cha Eun-woo), a teacher who looks so cold.

Hae-na slowly finds out about Bo-gyeom and realizes that her dream loves dogs. She becomes convinced to be with Bo-gyeom. While about to confess her feelings to the teacher, Hae-na gets drunk and accidentally kisses Jin Seo-won.

Jin Seo-won also works as a teacher at the same school as Hae-na. He looks so charismatic from the outside, favored by the students.

However, from the moment she met Seo-won, Hae-na felt that he hated her for no reason. The math teacher also always seemed very cold and even avoided her. She's even had Seo-won feel uncomfortable around her.

This makes Hae-na so dizzy because her curse has now appeared. She turns into a dog every night. The condition gets worse when she remembers that she only has 100 days before she becomes a dog forever.

She thinks of all the ways she can kiss Seo-won again in dog form, even though the teacher is very afraid of the four-legged animal.

A Good Day to Be a Dog is one of several webtoons by Lee Hye that have been adapted to the screen, before See You in My 19th Life was adapted into a Korean drama.

In the webtun version, the character of A Good Day to Be a Dog actually had a cameo in See You in My 19th Life (chapter 21) because it was published first, from September 22, 2017 to April 13, 2019.

In addition to the two webtuns, Lee Hye is also the creator of Chiller, Divine Bells and Divine Bells - Part 2.

The drama A Good Day to Be a Dog is directed by Kim Dae-woong who previously directed Star Up the Engine (2021) and wrote the script for Love+Sling (2018).
