Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), was launched in November 2003 following a royal decree issued by a key member of the Abu Dhabi royal family. Etihad Airways is currently the second largest airline in the United Arab Emirates after Emirates, based in Abu Dhabi, Khalifa.
