Types of Southwest Airlines fares
Southwest Airlines is essentially a low-cost carrier or budget airline that offers a cheap base fare. However, the airline is way ahead of its other low-cost competitors by offering great benefits that come with the same ticket price, including a personal item. Southwest Airlines flights come with three basic ticketing options: Wanna Get Away, Anytime and Business Select. This is all about these types of fees.
Wanna Get Away: This is the basic Southwest Airlines fare. Customers who purchase the Wanna Get Away fare are offered two (2) free checked bags, complimentary snacks and beverages, the option of reusable funds for future travel on the airline in the event of a missed flight, and a winnings fee 6x rate for Rapid Reward members. Customers wishing to fly on standby on the Wanna Get Away fare type will need to upgrade to the Anytime or Business Select fare.
Anytime: Southwest Airlines' Anytime fare is quite similar to the Wanna Get Away fare. The only advantage of the Anytime rate is that it is refundable and increases the earnings of the Rapid Rewards rate ten times.
Business Select: Business Select premium customers are offered all the benefits of Wanna Get Away, plus a refundable option. Additional benefits that come with the Business Select fare include priority security lanes, priority boarding, a premium alcoholic beverage and 12x Rapid Rewards fare earnings.
In addition to these three fare types, Southwest Airlines also offers a Senior fare to passengers 65 and older with valid identification. The Senior Rate is also refundable.
